    Short answer

Preparation means learning the formats your invitation names and practising accuracy at a sustainable pace. Sova says response time is factored into reasoning scores; weighting and progression rules depend on the employer.

    Step-by-step

    1. 1

      Confirm your configuration

Read the invitation email and note which modules are included and whether any time limits apply — Sova sittings are often untimed but speed-recorded.

    2. 2

      Drill logical reasoning first

In our view, start with the format you find least familiar and review every error.

    3. 3

      Build numerical pace

The maths is straightforward; reading dense tables quickly is the skill. Practise with the calculator you will actually use.

    4. 4

Rehearse situational judgement against the competencies

Read the employer's published competency framework, then answer scenarios as someone who is measured against it.

    5. 5

      Sit a full-length mock

Do every module back to back once, so assessment day is not the first time you feel the fatigue.

There is no published pass mark

Sova does not publish pass marks or section weighting. Progression depends on the employer; some employers progress candidates automatically on score.

Speed is part of the score

Even untimed configurations record how long you take. Working carefully but slowly is not a safe strategy — build a pace you can sustain and stick to it.

    Put it into practice

The fastest way to internalise the format is practice in the same question formats.
