    The NHS GMTS assessment format

GMTS's published process is the Future Potential Assessment, then the NHS GMTS Alignment Assessment, then a virtual assessment centre. The practice rows below are general SovaGorilla preparation and are not GMTS stages.

NHS GMTS uses NHS England's assessment partner Amberjack, under a contract awarded in July 2024; it is not a Sova assessment. Stage 1, the Future Potential Assessment, takes approximately 45 minutes and is not time limited. Stage 2, the NHS GMTS Alignment Assessment, takes about 60 minutes; only video questions are timed and video responses are reviewed manually, not by AI. Stage 3 is a virtual assessment centre in January–February 2027.

The NHS Future Potential Assessment (Stage 1)

The Future Potential Assessment is the first online stage of the NHS Graduate Management Training Scheme. The scheme says it takes approximately 45 minutes and is not time limited. No countdown to beat. You can practise each question type before you start, and every candidate receives a feedback report on completion.

What does it measure? The scheme says its recruitment process is designed to assess your strengths. That is all it publishes: no question list, no pass mark, no scoring key. Anyone quoting one is guessing.

It is not a Sova assessment. NHS England's assessment partner for the scheme is Amberjack, under a contract awarded in July 2024. Our practice sections are general preparation, not a copy of Stage 1, and our situational judgement practice is untimed too.

Stage 2, the NHS GMTS Alignment Assessment, opens as soon as you are notified of success at Stage 1.

NHS GMTS's values: NHS Constitution values

Our practice feedback names the value behind every keyed answer, so you can rehearse judgement that reads consistently with these published behaviours.

    Working together for patients
Patients come first in everything the service does; cross-team working is expected, not optional.
    Respect and dignity
Value every person as an individual — patients, families and colleagues alike.
    Commitment to quality of care
Earn trust through safety, effectiveness and a willingness to be measured.
    Compassion
Respond humanely to distress and act to relieve it.
    Improving lives
Pursue improvement and innovation with evidence behind it.
    Everyone counts
Use resources for the whole community and waste nothing that could help others.

The six values are published in the NHS Constitution for England. GMTS's own assessment language is strengths-based ('Future Potential') and the scheme does not publish a scoring key — treat these values as sensible context, not as a marking scheme.
