Guide only — we do not record or score video here
This page is written preparation guidance. SovaGorilla does not record video answers, does not score them, and does not simulate Vodafone's interview interface. The practice recording Vodafone offers inside its own assessment is the genuine rehearsal, and you should use it.
What the stage involves
VodafoneThree describes a competency-based video interview inside the roughly 40-minute UK online assessment, alongside the game-based assessment. Competency-based means the questions ask for evidence: a situation you were in, what you did, and what came of it.
Recorded interviews usually give you a short preparation window and a capped answer length per question, with practice items first. Because there is no interviewer reacting to you, structure carries the weight that rapport would carry in a live conversation.
Build four Spirit-led answers
Vodafone publishes its Spirit beliefs, and they are the most reliable guide to what the interview rewards. Prepare one example per belief, each about 90 seconds spoken:
- Earn customer loyalty — a time you put the person you were serving first and kept a promise.
- Create the future — a time you built or proposed something for a need that had not arrived yet.
- Experiment, learn fast — a time you tried something, measured it honestly, and changed course.
- Get it done together — a time you worked across a team boundary to deliver a result.
The same self-awareness shows up in the questionnaire — practise the personality section to see how consistently you describe your own working style.
Delivery: the practical list
None of this is exotic, and all of it is visible to an assessor watching your recording:
- Camera at eye level, light in front of you rather than behind, plain background.
- Look at the lens, not at your own image on screen.
- Answer in a spoken structure: situation in one sentence, your actions in three, outcome in one.
- Say 'I' when you mean you. Recorded answers full of 'we' score poorly on evidence of contribution.
- Test microphone and connection first, and close everything that can notify you.
Rehearse out loud, then stop
Record yourself on your phone once per example and watch it back once. You are looking for two things only: whether the outcome is clear, and whether you finished inside your target time. Fixing those two beats endless re-recording.
Then leave it. Over-rehearsed answers sound scripted, and competency interviews reward specific, slightly imperfect detail over polish. Reading your notes on camera is obvious, so keep prompts to four or five words per example.
Put it into practice
The fastest way to internalize the format is timed practice that mirrors the real test.
